I have known Inari Kunnas for some years now and have been invited to visit her studios on several occasions. Inari’s work comes from the heart and is both innovative and creative. A particular aspect that I like is the fact that she likes to use wood pieces that she has recovered from her travels as a ’canvas’ for her paintings. When I last visited her studio in Helsinki there were interesting pieces of what I took to be driftwood that she was storing for future use. I also especially like some of her icon like portraits of Saints. There are some on her website that are testament to a dedication and skill not fully appreciated. At another level this artist is highly trained in restoration of antiquities and loves to take on a challenge in this area. It has been a pleasure to meet with Inari who is well traveled and who loves to meet people from other parts of the world and walks of life.

Inari Kunnas on erityisen innostava ja kannustava kuvataiteiden opettaja. Tiukkojen sääntöjen tai valmiiden vastausten sijaan hän opastaa kokeilemaan ja löytämään omat ratkaisut. Ja kiperän paikan tullen aina löytyy aina uusi keino päästä työskentelyssä eteenpäin. Entisöintityön opit Italiassa ja käsityöläisen taidot tekevät Inarin opetuksesta käytännönläheistä. Sanaa epäonnistuminen ei tunneta Inarin kursseilla. Varsinkin Vapaamuotoinen pyhäinkuvamaalaus temperalla -tunneilla vallitsee syvä ilon ja rauhan tunnelma, kun opiskelijat keskittyvät hartaasti työhönsä. Toisten tekemisistä myös opitaan ja onnistumisista iloitaan yhdessä.
